Maui in October?

atlantagal asked:

Just found out that my parents are springing for a family vacation for us in October to Maui. I have never been, and am not a beach person (I get sunburned pretty fast), so was wondering what other activities I could do besides shopping? I’m looking forward to zip lines, and the volcanoes, and we are going to a luau one night, oh, and I believe we are doing whale watching one day as that is high whale mating season. Any other suggestions for a newbie traveling to Maui?? Thanks!!
When going to sunny places, I always take SPF 45 lol (or higher if I can find it!) =)

Your plans so far sound pretty good! Even though you’re not into going to the beach, please make sure you wear plenty of sunblock (at least SPF 30) while you’re in Hawaii. The tropical sun can be very dangerous and not only do you not want to burn, you don’t want melanoma either! You will likely be outside most of the time even if you’re not sitting on a beach. Check out the Shops at Wailea, Lahaina town, the Maui Ocean Center, ‘Iao Needle, and all the other stuff you mentioned. Have a great time!
